Thursday's H.S. basketball games to watch

Middleton at Humboldt (Boys) -- I will be here. These two teams are usually at the top of the districts and among the best in West Tennessee. Middleton comes in 0-1 after losing at Dyer County on Tuesday. Humboldt hasn't played yet. The Tigers will look to use Tr'Darius Girley to get a lead early. Humboldt is young, starting five juniors. D'Sonta Bradford showed he can play last year, and now he will try and back that up for a second year. Nic McLilly will also be a go-to player for Humboldt.

McNairy at North Side (Girls) -- David Thomas will be here. On the girls' side, North Side opened the season with a loss, and McNairy opened with a win. The Lady Bobcats will look to work off that opening win. Briana Phelps is an extremely quick guard that can break through the press. North Side was led Tuesday by Destiny Robinson with 16 points, and the Lady Indians will look this time to get a second scorer into double figures.

JCS at Hardin County (Boys) -- JCS is a new look team this year after the graduation of four post players. Watch for William Welch's ability to shoot the 3. Lucas Pyron will look to work the ball inside. Hardin County had a strong season last year, and the Tigers want to work off that and improve this season. Will Shelton is a tough shooter for Hardin County underneath. Jonathan Roach and Kelby Wardlow are also tough for the Tigers.

Trenton Peabody at Milan (Girls) -- Michael Hart begins is tenure at Trenton Peabody tonight against a cross-town rival. The Lady Tide are strong defensively and will try to use that to win games. Moesha Marsh and Jasmine Pitts are two players to watch for Peabody. Tony Hill begins his second year in charge of the Lady Bulldogs. Meredith Fry and Iva Estrada lead this team at guard.
